For new moms, every day feels full. Between feeding schedules, diaper changes, and those precious moments of rest, it can be hard to find time for anything else — even something deeply meaningful, like donating milk. That’s why Mothers’ Milk Bank California (MMBCA) now offers weekend donor screenings — making it easier than ever to help babies in need without adding more stress to your week.
Expanding Access
At MMBCA, we’re always looking for ways to support families and make milk donation more accessible. Weekend screening appointments were created in response to what moms told us — they needed more flexibility. By opening our doors on Saturdays and Sundays, we’re helping more families find time to give back in a way that fits their routines.
How It Works
Our screening process is simple, safe, and designed with moms in mind. It begins with a brief phone call where our friendly team walks you through a few health and lifestyle questions to make sure milk donation is a good fit. Once you’re approved, we’ll schedule your blood test at a convenient time.
The entire process is straightforward and supportive, and our staff is always ready to answer your questions. It’s a relaxed, welcoming experience where you can feel proud knowing you’re taking an important step to help fragile babies thrive.
A Mom’s Story
“I wanted to donate for months but couldn’t get away during the week,” shared Emily R., one of our weekend donor moms. “When I saw that MMBCA started weekend screenings, I finally booked my appointment. Knowing that my milk could help tiny babies in the NICU made it completely worth it.”
Stories like Emily’s are why we expanded our hours — because when moms have more flexibility, more babies benefit.
The Impact of One Donation
Just one ounce can provide up to three meals for a tiny NICU baby. That means 100 ounces could support the nourishment of up to 10 fragile infants for a day’s feeding. Join the Movement
If you’ve ever thought about becoming a milk donor, now is the perfect time. With weekend screening appointments available, it’s easier than ever to give milk, give life, and give hope.
Book your weekend screening today — and share this opportunity with another mom who might want to join you.
Because babies don’t take weekends off — and neither do we.
