For premature and medically fragile babies, donor human milk isn't just helpful, it's part of critical care. When a mother's own milk isn't available, pasteurized donor milk helps protect these tiny patients against serious complications like Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) and supports healthy growth during the earliest, most vulnerable days of life.

The Root is Sacramento’s only non-profit fitness center, yoga studio, childbirth education center & peer support community in Sacramento for new and growing families. Their mission is to provide support and programming that expands community, health and wellbeing for families in the greater Sacramento region.
Milk Donation
The Root has been an established Collection Center partner with Mothers’ Milk Bank California since 2025. They help make milk donation more accessible for donors in the Sacramento area, and have collected and shipped over 35,000+ ounces of breastmilk since opening.
Classes
They offer a variety of classes including but not limited to: Prenatal Yoga, Postpartum Pelvic Floor Recovery, Baby & Me Yoga, Pilates, Dancing for Birth, New Parent support groups, Childbirth preparation, Breastfeeding, Pumping, Newborn care and Postpartum Preparation. They also offer special workshops on CPR, Feeding Solids, Potty Learning and more.

How much milk am I able to drop off?
The minimum donation requirement is 100 ounces, there is no maximum. Please call the Collection Center beforehand to coordinate your drop off.
What if I don’t have an Illness & Medication form on hand?
The Collection Center will have forms available for you to fill out upon dropping off
Can I drop off milk without a cooler?
Yes! Just bring your frozen milk and the Collection Center will take care of packing and shipping it in their coolers."
